ECW Week in Review Oct. 30-Nov. 5

We have made our way through Halloween and are into November at ECW. Our week was highlighted by the continuation of our latest series, Battlefield Markers and Monuments, ongoing C-SPAN coverage of our Fourth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium, and a number of other great pieces from our authors. Speaking of our Symposiums, we also had a major announcement this week regarding the speaker lineup at our upcoming Fifth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium (the Early Bird Rate is available here). You may click on the link below to read each post.

On Wednesday morning, we announced our full speakers line-up for the Fifth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium. It will be held once again at Stevenson Ridge from Aug.3-5, 2018. Additionally, our friends at C-SPAN continued airing and re-airing presentations from our Fourth Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium.

Sarah Kay Bierle, Chris Mackowski, Steward Henderson, Dwight Hughes, guest authors Frank Jastrzembski and Kristen Trout (Pawlak) all contributed to Battlefield Markers and Monuments. You may click here, and scroll to the bottom and click on “Older Posts” to catch up on the entire series. The series will continue next week.

Chris Mackowski also shared his thoughts on the second edition of Grant’s Final Battle and a discussion with Dan Davis on the engagement at Myers Hill during the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.

With the change in the calendar, we also announced our authors’ November presentations.

Meg Groeling shared a Civil War related post on Halloween.

Chris Kolakowski discussed the most important harbors during the Civil War.

We also published a post from guest author John Lustrea.
